Use this Checklist to Extend the Life of Your Vehicle

Date: July 17, 2021

There are various actions you can take to maintain your car operating smoothly if you love it and want to keep driving it for as long as feasible. Use this checklist all year to make sure you're staying on top of your vehicle's maintenance.

1. Regular maintenance should never be overlooked.

Taking your car in for a routine oil change may seem inconvenient, but those seemingly insignificant examinations can help avoid long-term harm. Maintain regular inspections, oil changes, and tyre pressure checks to significantly increase the life of your car.

2. Perform some maintenance on your own.

You don't have to be a skilled technician to be active in your vehicle's overall care. There are a few simple things you can do to keep it in good working order. Checking the tyre pressure, for example. Once a month, check the air pressure with an affordable tyre gauge. Fill up on air at a nearby gas station if they're looking low. You can also learn how to check your car's fluid levels to see when it needs to be refilled. Check your wiper fluid, power steering fluid, and antifreeze levels. You don't need to know how to change it (extra points if you research into it yourself! ), but knowing when it's running low will allow you to bring it to someone who can replenish it.

3. Pay attention to the details.

Keep an eye or ear out for anything unexpected or out of the ordinary because you're closer to your vehicle than anyone else. Take it in for an examination if you hear a strange noise or feel a strange vibration. Allowing a problem to fester or reach a point of no return is not a good idea.

4. Fill it with water.

While it is always cheaper to fill up your gas tank with regular unleaded gasoline, give your automobile a special treatment by giving it a tank of premium fuel every now and then. Consider it similar to rotating shampoos—just as it's beneficial for your hair to freshen things up now and then, it's also excellent for your car. Premium gasoline can help you save money on gas while also improving the performance of your vehicle.

5. Keep it in a safe place.

Your car's lifespan can be extended greatly by parking it in a covered garage. Garages protect vehicles from a variety of hazards, including golf ball-sized hail, bird droppings, and fallen leaves.

6. Use your parking brake less frequently.

Did you aware that using your car's emergency parking brake too much might lead to premature wear and tear? The brake pads can start to attach to other elements of the vehicle, generating more issues than solutions, especially if you plan on storing your car for an extended period of time with the parking brake on.
